Young Voices – Views on the NHS

On Wednesday 21st October 2015 6 Year 10 Peer Mentors attended The Young Voices Engagement Conference at Queen Elizabeth School.

Schools from across Dorset were invited to attend so that young people could give their views on the NHS within Dorset. This is what one of our peer mentors said about the day:

‘It was a very interesting experience where we got to put across our opinion on the NHS service for young people.

One of the topics we discussed was the fact the NHS needs to cut back on funding but, the issue is the population is increasing. I found out what the NHS is doing to improve the health of young people in Dorset. I also strongly agree on what they plan to do.

Also, I thought it was very good because they got us to interact with them and they took in everyone’s ideas. We looked at the current financial situation that the NHS is in and what will happen in the future. It was made clear to us how important our views were to them.

Overall, today was a great opportunity. It was good to be able to put our views across and speak up for younger people. I felt very proud and honoured to represent my school for this event.’
