Year 11 Highcliffe pupil, Campbell Golding, has just competed in the last eight’s stage of the National Cup U16 Championships, with his New Forest Volleyball team. In order to gain a place in the last eight, his team had already secured wins in earlier regional rounds against Wessex, Exeter and Cornwall's Beach Academy team. They then played the remaining eight regional winners from around the country, tournament style.
Campbell played a vital role as team Setter/Opposite Hitter as part of his squad battling through their pool matches to reach the semi-final against current National Cup title holders, Boswell's School from Essex. In an epic match with both teams taking a set each, Campbell took the winning hit in the final set to take his team through to the Cup Final. This is due to be held in April at England’s Volleyball National Sport Centre in Kettering as part of the most prestigious event on the English Volleyball Calendar, the National Cup Finals, which stages finals from men, women, U16's and U18's over a whole weekend of volleyball.
