On Thursday 14th December, sixth form maths students were given an exciting opportunity to see a presentation from a statistician, Mrs Jane Naylor.
Mrs Naylor worked for the Office for National Statistics for a number of years and is now working opposite Downing Street as the lead statistician for the Brexit negotiations.
She spoke to the students about her current role and then went on to talk about the steps involved in producing statistics. These being collecting data, cleaning and processing it, analysing and then disseminating results.
After the presentation, the Year 12 maths students worked together on tasks related to the large data set of weather that they are required to study for their A Level in Mathematics.
