“My name is Harry, and I am in year 8 at Highcliffe school. I have been selected to represent Great Britain in the 420 Sailing World Championships held at the San Remo yacht club in Italy. I will be competing against 120 different competitors from 10 countries. 

The 420 is a two-man boat with a helm and a crew. The helm steers the boat, and the crew stands on the side hooked on to a trapeze. As a team the aim is to place as high in a race as possible. To be selected for the worlds I had to take part in 3 qualifying events and sail the best of my ability to finish in the top 3 in my category. Every boat taking part has also had to qualify making these the best 60, under 17 boats in the world. I believe this is a great opportunity to take part in a high-level competition and I think it will be an amazing experience to be a part of.”
